Handwritten Gospels: Day 1
it’s been said that writing something down is the best way to memorize it, so tonight i drove out to Target and bought myself a leather bound journal and some nice pens. once i got home i sat down and wrote out the first chapter of the Gospel of Matthew.
i’m in desperate need to memorize some scripture. i’m not expecting to be able to memorize all 4 gospels in their entirety but i am hoping to walk away with at least some of the stories and parables in them memorized. i’m not sure how long this will take, and it’s gonna be a journey, but this is a start. and that’s what i need, a start.
i guess that’s all for now, just wanted to post something about this in hopes that it will keep me accountable and dedicated. i’ll try to post a few times throughout this experience to see how it’s shaping me…

this day in history [august 6]
so my mustang is in the shop today getting looked at… again… seems like the nicer and smarter cars get, the more expensive the repairs get… everything is electrical and computer related now so i guess gone are the days of popping the hood and fixing it yourself… not that i was ever close to doing my own car repairs…
on a lighter more fun note, here is today’s look at history…
1972 – today is Geri Halliwell’s birthday (one of the spice girls, don’t ask which one cause i really don’t know!)
1993 – The final episode of “Perfect Strangers” aired on ABC.
i guess neither of those is really that funny, at least not as funny as some i have read about on other days, but they are both mildly entertaining… i guess…
i’m in such a “blah” mood today… so blah… i know, get over it… i will…

…you wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be…

Look around what could i do
This place is unfamiliar and new
So i try to look beyond what’s right in front of me
Hope to be found how could this be true
Comfort came and left in such a hurry
So then what’s on the other side of this tragedy
You wake up to find that you’re right where supposed to be
Trapped in uncertainty each day’s a mystery
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
The past is unveiled and you see you’re right where you’re meant to be
Look behind oh how we’ve grown
All the places we’ve been
The places I’ll never never go back again
If I had only known that all was not lost
It always comes around again round again round again
Patiently waiting just waiting
til one day you find that you’re right where supposed to be
Trapped in uncertainty each day’s a mystery
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
The past is unveiled and you see you’re right where you’re meant to be
Now I see the reasons for all of those seasons wondering just how my life would connect
My life would connect but you knew all along all along
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
Your heart’s running wild and free each day’s a mystery
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
Trapped in uncertainty each day’s a mystery
You wake up to find that you’re right where you’re supposed to be
The past is unveiled and you see you’re right where you’re meant to be
[Jadon Lavik, Meant To Be]
lately i’ve been randomly listening to music i don’t listen to much on iTunes when i’m sitting here at the computer playing spider solitaire and this song came on and really fit my post from earlier tonight so i figured i’d share it… good song for any hard time in life you may be facing… God’s got you right where He means for you to be…
i’ll try to post more often during this time of transition and let everyone know how i’m doing and all that’s going on and developing around me….
before i go for the night, our pastoral staff is having a meeting tomorrow for the better part of the day just planning and brainstorming, bouncing ideas off each other and so it would be really cool if anyone reading this tonight or in the morning or whenever would just pray for West Cabarrus church and the transition we are in as a church body there… a lot of awesome things are in store for us i’m sure, God works big, we just need to show up, be available and willing to be used to paint this masterpiece He has been painting…
goodnight!

another season of change…
i’m sitting here in the Learning Center at my church [West Cabarrus] where we hold our Thurs. Night college gatherings on Thursday nights (the name makes sense huh?) and i’ve been thinking about the different seasons of change i’ve gone through in my life… i’ve been through plenty of typical ones… the ones you expect and are prepared to face, nothing out of the ordinary… but every once and a while one will sneak up on ya…
i’m facing one of those right now… seems like change comes and goes together too, at least the sneaky ones do… today at work [New Creation Christian Stores] we went public with our closing down of our Concord location, which happens to be the one i work at… we’ve known since last Friday (July 6, 2007) but we didn’t plan on making it official until today which we did… i had the day off so i wasn’t there to really interact with everyones first impressions, but i can imagine what they were like and i do work tomorrow and Saturday so i’m sure i’ll have my fair share of talking and explaining and interacting with customers then…
i’m really not sure where i’m going or what i’m going to do come August 31 which is our last day as a store, but i do know that trusting God is the one and only place i can go and hold on to and i’m 100% sure and confident that my God will take care of me as He always does and will place me right where He needs/wants me to be for the next season of my life… along with that huge change i’m facing several smaller ones which were and still are unexpected but good because God is at work and God is good! so that’s pretty simple logic for me… anyway, i’m out, need to finish setting up for our gathering tonight…
hope and pray that everyone has an amazing night and weekend…

dad’s early birthday present

so dad got a new car last night… early birthday present from mom… it wasn’t one of those times where we had extra money and wanted to buy a cool new car, it was actually a well timed (as always) God thing… our van was on it’s last leg and finally died on us so we needed something to replace it… just so happens that God provided the right amount of money and worked out an amazing deal that only he could work out in order or my parents to be able to afford it… so, yep, we got a cool new car (it’s actually a 2003, new enough for us) and dad got one of his fav. cars for his birthday…
that’s all from me for now… back to work!

so what’s new?
the past week (as in the past 7 days) has been crazy… i had last Saturday, Sunday and Monday off from work but was on the go all 3 days… got my MacBook on Monday after a week of going back and forth on whether or not i should get one now… it’s pretty suite… glad i got it… looking forward to hooking it up and seeing what it can do…
this is actually my first wordpress blog on it… seems to be set up a bit differently on here but it’s all right… i’ll get used to it…
works been a little crazy this week with pretty much everyone requesting the same days off… except me of course, i never go anywhere… woo! go me… so i’ve been slammed at work and been shorthanded… long days… and i close tomorrow… but good news is i don’t have to go in until 12:30… so it’s just a normal 8 hour day…
gonna run and finish downloading the new Damien Rice cd which i’ve heard is pretty good… i’m pooped… have a great weekend!

charlotteONE first impressions…

CharlotteONE was awesome! went w/ Joel, met up with Bethany, Justin, Kristin and others afterwards… pretty suite setup… great service even though we got there way late… but it was all good… i def. encourage any college/young adult to go on Tuesday nights at 7pm they are currently meeting at Steele Creek Community Church (exit 3 on I 77)… anyway, just wanted to say it was awesome and i intend to be there every week now… suite! have an awesome week!

forgettable fact: The average French citizen eats about 500 snails each year.
pour out Your mercy and clear this busy mind…

i got a hold of an early copy of Shawn McDonald’s new cd Scattered Pieces… it’s another live cd… his second… i love live cds… well, i love them if they are live versions of already recorded songs, i like having the nice clean studio version and then the raw, uncut, in the moment live songs… anyway, the cd is great… has 17 songs on it, 13 oldies but goodies and 4 new ones which will hopefully make it on his next studio recording… you also get 2 bonus songs from his website with the cd… anyway, enough with the sales pitch… i get to see Shawn on May 1st with Shane & Shane and Phil Wickahm at CharlotteOne… i’m pretty psyched… gonna try to take a decent sized group with me like i did for the Warren Barfield concert at Christ Community Church back in September last year… speaking of Warren, the kid needs a live cd too… anyway, gonna run for now… just figured i’d post something about this and all that’s related since i hadn’t posted anything in a while…
holler!
